A Gift From God

(I found this poem, which I had written over 20 years ago, when I dedicated my precious daughter to the LORD on Mother's Day in 1997. She was just three months old.)

Psa 127:3

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.--Psalm 127:3-5, KJV

A child is such a precious thing,

A gift of love from God our King;

A little girl or little boy

To teach, and show the special joy

We have while walking with the LORD

In faith and light and sweet accord--

A child to raise up in His ways,

That they might know safe, peaceful days

Amid the turmoils of this world

To blossom like a flower unfurled,

And with the Truth themselves to gird--

To spread His wondrous, saving Word.

A child is given from above,

Proof of the Father's faithful Love;

A blessing, on a long-term loan--

The future, where His seed is sown.
