The God Who Sees and Acts

by Tesh Njokanma

“Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth’. -  John 9:1

There’s a God who sees you. He sees everything you are going through, everything you need, everything you are struggling with. It’s one thing to see, it’s another thing to act on what you see. Not only does God see, God is able to do something about what He sees. We have a God who sees, who takes action, who does something about what He sees.

In the story Jesus told about the Good Samaritan, a priest saw a man who had been attacked by robbers, beaten and left half-dead. The priest saw him and immediately crossed over to the other side of the road. It didn’t make any difference that the man was seen by a priest, as the priest did absolutely nothing about what he saw. A Levite also saw the man in pain and difficulty, but avoided him (Luke 10:30-32).

There are some people that see you and no matter what you are going through, no matter the pain, hardship, suffering and discomfort in your life, they won’t do anything about it. Sometimes because they themselves are limited; they don’t have the resources or ability to do anything about your situation. And sometimes because they couldn’t care less!

It doesn’t matter who in your family, office, church or nation has seen you and not done anything to help you. What you should be concerned about is can God see me? Does God see me? If God sees you, then your case is settled. God won’t see you and turn His face to the other side. He will act, He will move, He will do something for you and in you.

Jesus wasn’t the first person to see the blind man in John 9, but Jesus was the first person to see Him and do something remarkable about what the man had been going through. When Jesus saw him, his longstanding problem of blindness came to an end. When Jesus saw him, the works of God was revealed in the man’s life. God demonstrated and manifested His glory and power in the man’s life; God gave him a testimony that shocked, surprised and confused his relatives and neighbours. When Jesus saw the blind man, Jesus made it evidently clear through this man’s life that it is God not any man that has the final say about anyone and any situation. People had concluded that this man was blind because of a sin committed either by him or by his parents, people had concluded that this man would never see, he would remain on the same level he had always been. But when Jesus saw this man all that changed. God stepped in and showed that you can’t conclude what God hasn’t concluded.

Never assume the role of Author and Finisher of a person's faith and life (Hebrews 12:2). Your full stop in the script of a person's life, may be God's semicolon. When you think it is over, that's when God comes in to show that He is just beginning with the person.

Who do you want to see you? A man who can see you and walk past you? A man who can see you and not change your story? Don’t do things to gain the attention and applause of people, strive for the attention of a God who can see you and your life will never be the same again.
