SOUL DANCE (excerpt): Strength to Serve

by Tonja Taylor
7/21/2024 / Christian Living

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him, even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ...--I Tim. 1:12-13a, NLT

Amazing grace; the Creator and King of the universe chooses and uses us to do His work on the earth! Hallelujah!

We get to serve the LORD with our time and talents, gifts and abilities, and there is no greater purpose for our lives, than to do His wonderful Ephesians 2:10 Plan.

For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].--Ephesians 2:10, AMP

He trusts us to sync with His Plan and have the best life He can give us!

Even with all our flaws and failures, He sees us through the blood of His Son, the LORD Jesus Christ, the one and only Savior of the world.

God our Father (He is our Father once we have truly repented of our sins and asked the LORD Jesus to come into our lives and be our Savior and LORD. Hallelujah!) sees the end from the beginning.

He knows everything about us, from all the things we've ever done and ever will do; all the words we've ever spoken and will speak; all the thoughts we've ever had and ever will--good or bad.

Bottom line is, first, we are His precious children, and we serve Him out of love. We are sons and daughters who serve.

The enemy tries to wear us out, and if we are trying to do to much, even to serve the LORD, it can certainly happen.

However, as the LORD has had to tell me many times through the years, "There remains a rest for the people of God."

Ultimately, the LORD is talking about the experience of Salvation; being born again by believing in Christ Jesus the only Savior of the world.

However, we also have to choose rest "in the midst of activity," as my husband has often stated.

He gives us rest and refreshing; strength to serve.

If you feel weary, pressured, fearful, discouraged, or anything like that, ask Him to show you what to correct.

The problem is never on His end.

If we are serving the LORD, it may be challenging sometimes, but should not be continually hard and pressured and negative and such.

As it is written, His way is easy and light:

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. 30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.--Matthew 11:28-30, AMP

He will be faithful to show you what to change. It may be streamlining activities, reducing hours, or even suspending or stopping serving for a while.

Even Jesus was deliberate in taking rest, and encouraged His disciples to do so.

The LORD our Creator Himself took rest on the seventh Day, after creating the world.

He's had to correct me and my husband, to convince us to rest more. We are glad for it, and He is faithful to make up--as only He can do!--for lost time!

Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]"--John 14:27, AMP
