SALVATION FOR ALL!
by Reginald Omage
11/02/2024 / Salvation
A Jailer once asked Paul and Silas the following question: "What must I do to be saved?" He had just witnessed the work of God in their lives and had come to realise his need for the salvation that only God can give. Their answer to him was, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved." Acts 16:30-32. Salvation is a gift that only God can give; it can only be received through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who became the sacrificial lamb for our sins, and like this jailer, we are all in need of it. The scriptures call it "the gift of God," indicating that only God can give this. Hard as we may try, we cannot earn it or qualify for it through religious works of any kind. The work needed for our salvation has already been done by Jesus Christ in his death on the cross and his resurrection. This was the price for our salvation, and his willingness to do this was an expression of the grace of God. This selfless act of love was grace in action!
While on the cross, just before he breathed his last breath, he said, "It is finished!" Meaning that the work needed for our salvation has been accomplished or completed. John 19:30. By saying this, Jesus was declaring that he had completed the work needed for the salvation of mankind. Therefore, all that is left now is to receive by faith that which has already been provided for you. This is summarised beautifully in the following words:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV).
Will you consider receiving this gift that God has so lovingly provided today? By this display of sacrificial love, he did for you that which you could never have been able to do for yourself. Do not assume that you can be good enough on your own to earn salvation. Cornelius, together with his household, was a man with many admirable qualities—religious, God-fearing, philanthropic, and prayerful—but these could not earn them salvation; they still had to exercise faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for it. Acts 10:30-43. I encourage you to receive this precious gift today with sincerity of heart.
The scripture says, "Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2. Now is your time; this is your moment; let this be the day when you secure your eternity with the living God forever.
♦Turn to the Lord today, call out to him, ask him for salvation, and he will save you. The scripture assures us that everyone who calls out to the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13.
♦Submit willingly to Jesus and declare him the Lord of your life. Romans 10:9-10.
♦Acknowledge with gratitude that he died for your sins and rose again for your salvation. Romans 10:9-10.
