SOUL DANCE: More Thanksgiving More Peace

And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]. - Col. 3:15, AMPC

How do we stay thankful? How do we stay in peace?

Ultimately, by keeping our minds on the Prince of Peace. Choosing to be thankful (and He will help us with that!) is one of the most effective ways to do that.

Ask me how I know--sometimes, it's be so very hard to be thankful!

The LORD is so patient, praise Him. However, He has helped me remember to ask His sweet, all-knowing Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to help me be thankful; to remember--and start rehearsing/listing out loud--the good things about a certain person, or situation, etc.

Yes, it's almost always easier for us to be more thankful for God working situations out for our good, after negatives happen, than it is to be thankful for people.

Or maybe that's just me.

It can be hard for most of us to be thankful for the good things in people, after suffering disappointments by them (especially after many disappointments; especially after disappointments in the same areas, year after year.).

To be fair, most others usually don't realize they are disappointing us!

It's a matter of perspective, and things can get really crazy, when we don't have the perspective of The Word.

People and their ideas and opinions often change, but the Word of God will not.

The sky and the earth (the universe, the world) will pass away, but My words will not pass away. - Luke 21:33, AMPC

Hallelujah!

the LORD is always working (no matter what it seems like, or looks like), and He is very patient with us all (including me!), not willing that any should perish (not in our spirits, our souls (mind/will/emotions); not in our bodies; not in our marriages or other God-ordained relationships; not in our destinies; not in our dreams and desires and joys)--not in any way!

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. - 2 Peter 3:9, NLT

However, the LORD can help us to recognize the wrong roots of our disapointment, discouragement, anger, fear, etc. He is so good, and always working to bring healing and health--peace; shalom--and help us get past the negative past! Hallelujah!

“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.” - Isaiah 43:18-19, MSG

We can ask Him to help us remember the good things. He will! He will direct us to write down the good things. That's one reason a Thanksgiving Journal is so important. Writing things down can help them get into your memory better, and then you have a hard copy record to review, and/or speak them out.

He leads us to Scriptures to read and memorize and listen to and speak out loud. He leads us to worship.

Ultimately, as I believe He's revealed to me that the plan of the enemy, through whatever method he can use, is to distract us from the goodness of God.

He can certainly use unthankfulness to do that!

Yep, that's the real battle (and I'm preaching to myself!); to be sensitive enough to the Spirit of God to realize when our flesh (soul; mind/will/emotions) is not aligned with God; where the enemy has had a place because he found a weakness in us that is not fortified with the Word of God; His Love.

How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. - Psalm 36:7, AMPC

So the real battle is to recognize the attacks, the wrong thoughts/feelings, and immediately raise our shield of Faith, and refocus on God and His goodness.

There are always many, many things to be thankful about!

We can start praising the Lord, in the midst of the battle, and that is powerful. Praise can quickly help us get the right attitude with our words--even if we don't feel right.

When we start speaking praise and thanksgiving to the LORD, He hears and draws near. Praise Him!!

He comes to our aid and helps us overcome the enemy. Hallelujah!

The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. - Exodus 14:14, AMPC

But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere, - 2 Cor. 2:14, AMPC

We can never go wrong being thankful. Being thankful helps us refocus on the Prince of Peace, Who is Himself our peace; our rightness of mind; the Soother of our souls.

Hallelujah!

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6, AMPC

Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will]. - I Thess. 5:18, AMPC

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. - Isaiah 26:3, AMPC
