There are eerie silhouettes
Of trees, and barns, and brush;
And all around the country,
There is the slightest hush!
And, as the darkness deepens,

A shadow of what they were.

And eyes begin to blur.
We are patiently waiting,
The words, "My son, well done"!
Where darkness does not prevail,
At the setting of "our sun".
